Welcome to the 1st news letter on our brand new website. We are so happy you have made it here. Let me take just a moment to introduce myself. I am Ginger, retail store manager at our Van Wert Location. I am also one of the people who will answer any question you have when you send us a questions or inquiry by e mail. Our entire staff of 42 employees are pleased to invite you to journey through our website and see what P & R Home IV Service and Medical Connection is all about. You will find interesting facts and very helpful information along with all the home medical supplies, services and products we have to help you make your life more comfortable. Along with that from time to time in our newsletter, we will include "what's up with who" highlighting a different employee each quarter. This quarter we want to open with introducing Mr & Mrs Farris.

Mr. and Mrs. Farris  They started the company in their own home using   their personal vehicle for deliveries. Working 24   hours a day to provide the needed  IV's and medications prescribed to patients, with only one staff member to help, very quickly became a  service they had little idea would  become the success it has because the need is so great. Today P&R Home IV and Medical  Connection service all of northwest and central Ohio and a small bit of   Indiana.

The part of the company that has not changed is that both Mr & Mrs Farris are often still up all night, delivering needed supplies and working on insurance claims and the many parts of behind the scenes necessities of the company to benefit each patient to the fullest extent of their ability.

Do not be misled thinking there is no time for fun however! A few of the ways the Farris' give back to their community and their 40+employees is being active in their church, 4-H, the rotary and all community events. Each year P & R has a "Relay for Life team honoring survivors including Robin Farris herself. She knows first hand what it is like to have that struggle in her life and feels thankful and honored to be here to support all those who are going through cancer treatment today. Mr & Mrs Farris shows their thanks to their employees each year with a company picnic, a Christmas party along with many dinners and educational seminars and outings throughout the year. I hope you find our website user friendly and informational. Please visit often and tell your family and friends to click on! We will be so happy to help you with any medical needs you may have.

Thanks for coming by,
Ginger

Welcome Back!

This is the first newsletter of the new year and I have some very important things to share with you!

This year brings many changes in the home medical service industry. Amazing advancements, in technology for in home medical equipment and procedures. Many that will extend life with more comfort than ever before. Updated information at your finger tips via the internet and at each Dr’s office to help you in your healthcare decision making. However, along with great news are some disturbing changes as well. Medicare, in all their efforts over the years to make the dollar stretch and secure the retirement of millions of aging Americans have decided to dabble into unknown territory. That is the security of your healthcare options. While the story sounds good that our new president is going to rework the healthcare system and make sure everyone has available services when the need arises, Medicare continues to take away that very security. Keep in mind that even if you are not of Medicare age your parents may be and you will be! Also all major insurance companies follow Medicare guidelines. Reimbursement cuts have already begun starting with oxygen therapy. This is only the beginning. What does this mean to you? Well the answer is simple. If you or a loved one is dependent on oxygen, after 36 months you will have to pay for and maintain your own equipment and supplies. Scary thought isn’t it?

P & R president Phillip Farris has spent a huge portion of his career, staying involved in Washington and sitting on medical boards that review each and every aspect of your medical care and fighting for you and I to keep our choice of providers and options of our healthcare. I am asking you as you visit our website today and read through all the services we here at P & R Home IV Service and P & R Medical Connection has to offer you, that you will just take a few minutes to think about, what if? What if I needed oxygen or had cancer and needed in home chemotherapy drugs or even a wheelchair to get around inside my home, would my insurance help me with those costs? Would they let me have the company I ask for? Or do I want them to make all those choices for me taking away my freedoms and possibly even my life saving or sustaining equipment.

Wayne SmithWarehouse Manager, Wayne

On our education page you will find a link to your state representative. Please tell them what your concerns are and tell your family and friends to join you in doing the same.
On to better things! In our first newsletter of 2009 in the spotlight of “WHATS UP WITH WHO” we are proud to feature our warehouse manager, Wayne. Wayne is happily married to wife Lisa and has a family consisting of college kids down through elementary age children. Wayne is a proud Christian man who believes that following the rules, a fair day’s work and a little unexpected fun in everyday makes for a smooth ride through life. Below you will read his words about our company and his typical day. Wayne says, "I start my day checking messages and then I routinely sort out the agenda of service calls for our technicians and myself. Most of the morning is follow up calls between answering new calls, trouble shooting repairs, helping with delivery routes and helping confirm supplies going out to pt’s and nursing homes that day. Next I follow up on tracking orders in order of priority. Some of the things I take care of are installation of stair lifts, vehicle lifts and initial in home evaluations for mobility."

"I oversee the oxygen trans filling operation and the shipping and receiving parts of the company. I am responsible for the vehicle maintenance of all the company delivery vans as well as the route drivers. On a consistence basis, I look for short cuts and improvements in efficiency that can improve our policy and procedures."

"My overall view of P & R Home IV Service and Medical Connection is that patient care is top priority and that there is patient satisfaction because that is why we are here."

Wayne says his perfect day is when he receives a smile or a comment that the patient is truly appreciative and happy they used P & R services and he was able to make their life a little better or easier. There you have it! Well I hope you enjoyed the journey. Come back soon to see who is in the spotlight next quarter and what new information and products I have for you.
