Hello and welcome back!
I have a lot to tell you since our last newsletter! P & R has welcomed in three new employees that you will read about on our recent news page. Changes are still happening with Medicare cuts, however with our growing population; the home health care industry cannot just roll over and give up! Owner Phil Farris has continued to grow despite the economy lows. His insight tells him the need is growing even greater for in home health care. In the past week, a provision has been passed to allow skilled nursing facilities more money giving them more control over how the care is administrated to each patient. This is one step closer to national health care that is not in your best interest. With our present government structure, the plan is to remove all your staying at home choices of health care to come to a end. I urge you today to write and call Governor Strickland’s office and let him know you are opposed to this disaster! To find out more go to Oames.com and read about the “Bundling package” update on July 15th.

In this newsletter I would like to introduce to you a very special patient. Our fun friend Noah. Noah is 7 years old and a student at Lincolnview elementary school. (I promised I would mention that he is also a friend of my granddaughter Kerstin Davis) We are very privileged to know Noah and his mom Amy, dad Stuart, brother Alex and little sister Lily. Noah’s favorite interests are tractors, lawn mowers, and fun in general!

Noah has spinal bifida. Spinal bifida is a birth defect that affects the spinal column in which the protective cord and membranes are not completely covered during the growth of the unborn baby. Because of this abnormal development and damage to the spinal column before birth, children typically have some type of paralysis. For this reason, Noah spends his days dependent on a wheel chair for transportation. Because of Noah’s non-circulatory function in his legs, his doctor has ordered compression stockings to help keep the blood flow going back up to his heart. To get the proper fit, Judy Bowsher, one of the certified fitters at our Van Wert location has measured Noah for his special stockings, transferred the order to the BSN JOBST company and they have special made Noah’s stockings and sent them back to us for confirmation of proper fit.
Each of the P & R Medical locations send their
employees to special classes for the most current education for fitting compression garments as well as mastectomy products
and mobility seating.
Please take time to visit our education link for new respiratory and diabetic information along with the recent news page to see who our new employees are! As always, thank you for stopping by!
